I was a youth minister for 3 years before I realized things just didn't fit. Now here I am, a devout atheist and happier than I have ever been... liberated. Now I am the public relations director for the Mobile Area Freethought Association.

I really enjoy discussing religion and related topics. I don't care to "convert" xtians nor do I tolerate xtians trying to convert me.

There are, however, a couple of things that I do that have, in the past, ticked off xtians.

1. I never spell out the word xtian any other way.
2. I never spell god with a capital g.
3. I never refer to the judeo-xtian god as he

If everyone can respect that, then we should get along and have some very good discussions.  Cheesy

Hey Bill Smiley

Welcome to the Glorify God Community!

You're now a part of our family Cheesy So whether you spell 'Christian' as 'xtian' or God with a small 'g', we will definetely respect you as a unique & important member of this family!

One thing I've always stressed with the rest of the family is that No Personal Negative Remarks are allowed! All are free to share their views/beliefs on any topic, but no one is allowed to put anyone down.

I hope you find us to be a family that's bound by Love (if not anything else!).

Peace be with you,

Melody

Welcome to the community, Bill.  I don't get bothered by how people spell/write things, religious or not.  As long as you can tolerate my writing of Christian, God, & Him/He, I'll tolerate your versions...   Wink People in other forums I participate on make all kinds of spelling/grammer/punctuation/capitolization errors (religion related or not), myself included, I'm sure, and I don't care.  Just as long as I can understand the meaning of what you're writing is what's important.

Greetings Bill,

I am always happy to discuss religion and philosophy with people of different beliefs.  Rest assured I am not personally offended by how you choose to refer to God, just as I trust you will not be offended if I refer to God both as a proper noun, and in the masculine form.  Also, within this forum I traditionally sign off with "God bless" - that is simply my custom as a Catholic clergyman and not meant to be any kind of provocation.

I must admit that your post perked my curiosity, as I wondered exactly what you feel you were liberated from in your movement from Christianity to atheism.  I am also curious as to what things within the Christian Faith you felt "didn't fit."  Perhaps these would be interesting topics for discussion within the forums of the Glorify God Community.  No pressure - just a suggestion.   Cheesy

God bless,
-Rev. Eric
