Sparked off by Mary Liz' signature (& waiting for David's too!), I thought we all could do a little sharing on why we choose our signatures & what they mean to us.

Since I asked, I'll go first Smiley

My signature Phil 4:13 states "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

On one hand it gives me tremendous strenght. I believe that nothing is impossible since I have the God of the impossible with me. That He strengthens me to do His will, so I need not ever fear or ever doubt. I will get through every valley of darkness, be upto every challenge & God willing, fulfill the work which is assigned to me.

On the other hand it helps me keep myself in check. I realise that I can only do things because it is Christ Who is strenghtening me. Sometimes I add to myself after I say this verse "...and I can do nothing without Christ". If I sometimes start feeling proud of anything I've done, this helps me say "HEY! It's not me, but Christ".

Looking foward to hearing your stories!

Blessings,

Melody

My intro helps explain my signature.

In a nutshell, I found myself on a search for the truth about Catholicism and Christ.  It started with a search for the truth about Church teaching on artificial contraception. Scripture and Spirit-filled apologists helped me find the truth.  I feel that I knocked and Christ opened the door to the truth in my life.  The truth is so freeing.  In my experience, searching for the truth is never disappointing.  Christ will show it to you.  The hard part is accepting it.

"Ave Maria, Virgo Fidelis" is Latin for "Hail Mary, Faithful Virgin."

I feel the intercession of the Blessed Virgin not only started me on that journey, but helps me in my constant search for the truth.  She is also the perfect model for all Christians, IMHO.  Ever faithful, as I pray I will be, to the end.

My pick of Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam (AMDG) means For the Greater Glory of God.
All things  acheive God's glory if we allow this by approaching all task with the only purpose to love and serve God.  This task is accomplished by carving away our attachments to the things of this world (including ourselves) and  attaching "holy" to God alone.  If we suceed in this then whether we are at work or scrubbing the floor; we are working for the greater Glory of God.

AMDG,

Smiley I picked "Yours for "LIFE"' because I use that on all my e-mails.  The reason I use it is because I believe that without the GIFT of LIFE... none of us would be able to Glorify God or Love one another.... etc. etc.   The gift of Life is the first gift that God gives us... and it is then up to us to use this gift wisely.

Martin Luther was a great man. My signature item is one of his quotes that is better known.

I'm not a really huge Shakespeare fan. Most of his stuff I don't care for. But some of it is really good, like A Midsummer Night's Dream and Othello, but I REALLY like The Merchant of Venice.

The "Merchant" is Antonio, a successful businessman and a fine person. He is always helping people in need. Which cuts into the business of the town loan shark, a scurrilous Jew named Shylock. Bassanio is a friend of Antonio who needs a loan, but Antonio is short of cash because he has heavily invested in a venture and is waiting for “his ship to come in” (that popular expression comes from this play), whereupon he will be VERY wealthy (or destitute, if the ships are lost). Anyway, a loan is obtained from Shylock for Bassanio, but as collateral Shylock requires that, should the loan be forfeit, he may take “a pound of flesh” (this popular expression also comes from this play) from Antonio, from the region closest to the heart (obviously fatal). Antonio agrees to provide this collateral on behalf of his friend, Bassanio.

Well, the ships don’t arrive, and the loan is due. Shylock takes Antonio to court to force collection of his pound of flesh. Bassanio is aghast that his friend will suffer and die, especially since Antonio was only helping him. Bassanio muses:
Quote
The world is still deceived with ornament,
In law, what plea so tainted and corrupt
But, being season’d with a gracious voice,
Obscures the show of evil? In religion,
What damned error, but some sober brow [a learned person]
Will bless it and approve it with a text,
Hiding the grossness with fair ornament?
In Apologetics, we frequently see erroneous positions cloaked by frivolous and irrelevant context, which might sound good at first, but when you really get to thinking about it then you see it for what it really is – fair ornament hiding the grossness.

My signature is clear. I must say that i live in LatinAmerica, here we have the big problem of the sects, in LatinAmerica the branch of "APOLOGETICS" dessapeared since the time of the Second Vatican Council, when fundamentalist came from North America (sponsored by who??? ask Nelson Rockefeller), The Bishops in that time just said "let them to talk, we are already Caholics, let's talk with them about what unites us" and then did nothing or almost nothing to defend the true Faith. Now we have a new sect every 48 hours or so.

Now match that situation with the words "Not to oppose error is to approve it; and not to defend truth is to suppress it. And, indeed, to neglect to confound evil men -- when we can do it -- is no less a sin than to encourage them."

Understand?

God bless u all!

Amen to that secretman.  Great quote.
