Behold Your King

Read: Luke 23: 35 - 43

Reflect: The strangeness of Christianity is most obvious in the liturgical celebration of its King. Instead of a celebration of some glorious enthronement, we read about a man on a cross.

The kingship of Jesus is not a kingship of power and authority.  It is a kingship which is universal in its loving search for the lost one.  “Today you will be with me in paradise” is a word that the Church proclaims to all who look in hope towards the crucified Jesus as their king.

Q.l If Jesus came today who would crucify him ?

Jesus' second coming will be in glory.  He was crucified once and for all.  if He comes today, it's judgment time.

The way I read this question, if Jesus waited to come until today (rather than 2000 years ago) who would crucify Him?  My guess is that it would be some government that would crucify Him and we might not even hear about it on the news.  Jesus appeared in the form of an ordinary human, but His miracles and teachings demonstrated that He was God.  I'm not sure the news media would notice Christ if He came today in the same way that he did long ago.

Q.2 What would be the charges ?

Probably trumped up charges of sedition.  If he came to a place like North Korea, they wouldn't need any charges.  He'd probably be arrested and executed for teachings that contradicted the government.

Q.3 How is Jesus King of your life

I wish that I served my King better.  Everything I do should be in His service, but it's not.  I pray for the grace to really love and serve Him.
