We discussed briefly the book & it's contents a bit already here, but recently two friends of mine who've just read the book have been posing some questions (one unfortunately, though Catholic, has no personal experience with the Lord & has bought the book's ideas completely).

Are any of you aware of the painting of the Last Supper where one disciple is supposed to be Mary Magdalene & another supposed to be holding a knife & how to refute this emphatically to a non believer?

Also (& I guess this one's for you Seeker!) where can I find good resources to mail these guys - looking for maybe an online version of the Da Vinci Hoax..

Thx & Blessings,

Melody

Hi Melody!

Here are a couple good links to show the lies of the Davinci Code.

Catholic Answers - Cracking the Davinci Code

Here's a good excerpt:
Quote
What does Leonardo da Vinci have to do with the story?

Da Vinci is portrayed as a former head of the conspiracy guarding the "truth" about Jesus Christ. In the novel he is said to have planted various codes and secret symbols in his work, particularly in his painting of the Last Supper. According to the novel, this painting depicts Jesus' alleged wife, Mary Magdalene, next to him as a symbol of her prominence in his true teaching. In reality, the figure that Dan Brown identifies as Mary Magdalene is John the Evangelist, who traditionally has been regarded as the youngest of the apostles and so is often pictured in medieval art without a beard.

For all those looking for Catholic resources to counter the Da Vinci claims, here's a very useful listing:

If you have any Catholic articles to recommend, do leave the link in the comments and I'll add it to the list. We're just gathering links together to help all those who're looking to know more about the topic. In particular many prayer groups have formed sub-groups to tackle the DVC menace and they're looking for info all over. Such a listing will help them find all the best stuff in one place.

There's a GREAT blog at Holy Spirit Interactive called "The Da Vinci Code, The Gospel of Judas and Other Nonsense" & can be accessed directly at:

http://da-vinci-decoded.blogspot.com/

Besides some excellent views by authorities in the Church, it's a place where you can find answers to many little things that may have nagged you about these things.

Of course, feel free to discuss any of the same here at the community - that's what we're for Smiley

Blessings,

Melody
