Hi Ravi.

From strictly Biblical references, most of the rules I know of mentioned in the Bible are in the Old Testament and in St. Paul's writings (though not as explicit as the OT).  It's worth reading about Onan's sin in Genesis 38:6-10.

This isn't necessarily what you asked, but the basic "rule" from a Catholic standpoint (which I also think is biblical) is that sexual relations within marriage must be open to life.  My understanding is that other activities between husband and wife are acceptable if they lead up to the marriage act, are not an end in themselves, and are not objectively evil.

Probably best to do a little more research on the Church's teaching if that's also of interest to you.

IMHO, we should be guided by the biblical principles that marriage is a sacrament and that conjugal love is created by God for man and wife to cooperate in His creation and to love one another more deeply.  We should always be on guard against lust, especially within marriage.  True conjugal love and lust are two very different (and opposing) things.

uuumm.. I'm confused about your reference to the story of Onan as a reply to the question  huh
i mean yeah it's a sin in Gods eyes to "waste the seed" as the scripture says (which also supports the controversy on using condoms -ABSTINENCE is truly the way to go seeing as our body's belong to Chris), but what i think Ravi wants to know is what exactly is appropriate sexual behavior in the marriage  and i used to wonder about this as well seeing as i married while a prodigal daughter and also  my husband was not saved until recently (Praise God) so if you really want more info on this subject I really recommend a great book called -God is in the Bedroom Too, by P.B.Wilson  smiley

I was looking at Onan's act as inappropriate sexual behavior in marriage.  But your point is well taken.

You are 100% right about ABSTINENCE.
