Let us reflect on the murder of an elderly Catholic lady and a baby in Borivali by five youngsters ,among whom three were Catholics.
Where are the much publicised family values of a Christian upbringing after terming non- christians as pagans ?

I (like the rest of Mumbai/India) was very shocked to hear of the terrible Borivali murders, but even more so as 4 of the 5 kids in question were Catholics (this is incl. one with the non-Catholic surname).

A someone who knows someone who knows someone, told us that they all came from broken families where the fathers were drunken or parents had split etc. The drugs thus seemed to be a logical consequence, almost natural.

But to quote Mid-Day's Anil Thakraney Let me..submit to you, poor upbringing is an excuse to let-off deranged young minds… I know of homes where lovely, responsible children emerge out of rubbish, criminal families.

Let's face facts, Catholic values remain the same, while most families are not up to the mark when it comes to practising them. But can we blame these parents for what happened to their kids/the Mendes' ? I wouldn't know.

All I know is that it's important to cover all your loved ones with the precious Blood of Jesus daily to protect them, both from evil temptations & evil attacks.

rolleyes

THEN WE COME TO AN OFT REPEATED QUESTION : ARE ALL OF US CATHOLICS REALLY CHRISTIAN ?
ARE WE BURIED IN LOADS OF NOVENAS AND BONDAGES OF  HATRED, UNFORGIVENESS, GREED, CRITCALITY AND NEGATIVE ATTITUDE ?

I HAVE BEEN BROUGHT UP IN A BROKEN HOME, WHERE MY FATHER'S ONLY COLLLECTION IN 69 YRS OF HIS LIFE WAS LIQUOR BOTTLES.SO MUCH SO HE HAD CONSUMED EVEN MY QUOTA RENDERING ME A BLESSED TEETOTALLER.
PRAISE THE LORD. SO FAMILY UP BRINGING MAY CONTRIBUTE A BIT TO OUR NEGATIVE BEHAVIOUR, BUT LIVING A LIFE AS TRUE CHRISTIAN IS THE ANTIDOTE TO THE INCIDENTS LIKE THE BORIVLI DOUBLE MURDER.
THIS IS MY HUMBLE OPINION.
