I won't go into too many details in regards to names/places, as this doesn't concern me or my family, but rather a member of another online "family" I belong to.  Her 4-year-old son is currently in the ICU.  He underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor (don't know yet if it's cancerous or not), had brain-swelling, and just underwent another procedure to reduce the pressure on his brain.  He's now in a drug-induced coma and has a 50/50 chance of survival at this point.  Even if he survives he's expected to be impaired to some degree because of seizures he had/oxygen deprivation just prior to discovery of the tumor.

TIA

Just a little update for anyone who's interested.  He's stable, there is no more brain-swelling, he's responding to meds as he should, all vitals are normal, etc.  In other words, he's still hanging in there, and everything is going as it should.

Thanks again to anyone who's been praying.

Here's the latest update for anyone who's interested.  Things continue to go as they should, and the plan right now is to start to wean him off the drug induced coma on Wednesday & see if he'll wake up.  His mother said that he looks real good and she believes he's getting better.

Thanks again to anyone who's been praying!  Keep it up - God seems to be responding affirmitavely!  Smiley

Here's the update for anyone who's interested.  The good news is that he's expected to wake up within the next day or 2, but they still don't know what kind of damage the seizures/tumor caused.  The bad news is that the tumor was cancerous, and a fast growing/spreading type.  They are not sure if he's healthy enough to survive chemo/radiation treatments.  She must be so scared!  Thanks again for the prayers, keep them coming.

Sad

Sad update, folks.  They have taken him off life support & he's going Home, there's no hope.  I guess he's such a great kid that God wanted him Home right away.  The family has requested continued prayers.  Thanks again to those who have been praying.  The mother's faith is amazing.  She said she'd been praying hard for his full healing & recovery, but she supposes that the only way for God to do that was to take him Home.  If it were me in that situation, God forbid, I'm not sure I'd be that strong.

I will continue to pray for the family and especially for the mother.  I will pray that her faith remains strong and that the family is consoled by Christ and His loving Mother's intercession.

I cannot imagine losing any of my kids, even knowing they are with Christ.  I can only hope that I have half the faith the mother you describe has.  I fear that if I were tested in the same way that I would be found wanting.

What can I say? The Lord knows best? Sometimes, specially in situations like these, our minds seem to not want to accept that truth. But it is the truth, and if we all dwell on it - The Lord knows best - then we will be able to not only accept, but embrace all His choices.

My blessings & prayers are still with this child & his family.
